Purandar Airport Update: 90% Land Acquired, Remaining Owners Asked to Sign by July 31

Pune, 23rd July 2026: The Pune district administration has set July 31 as the final deadline for landowners to complete consent-based land acquisition for the proposed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje International Airport at Purandar. After the deadline, any remaining land will be acquired through the compulsory acquisition process, District Collector Jitendra Dudi said.

The airport project requires the acquisition of 1,216 hectares of land across seven villages in Purandar taluka. So far, agreements have been executed for 1,101 hectares, accounting for nearly 90% of the total land required.

Of the remaining 115 hectares, around 40 hectares are currently under litigation before the Bombay High Court. The administration has therefore fixed July 31 as the deadline for executing agreements for the remaining 75 hectares. Any land that remains unacquired after the deadline will be taken over through compulsory acquisition.

Dudi said landowners who opt for compulsory acquisition will not be eligible for the benefit of a developed plot equivalent to 10% of their acquired land, an incentive currently available under the consent-based acquisition process.

The district administration has so far received ₹2,150 crore towards compensation for land acquisition, with more than 50% of the amount already transferred directly to the bank accounts of affected farmers. Another ₹1,000 crore is expected to be received within the next three to four days, he said.

Last week, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis praised the Pune district administration for the pace of land acquisition for the airport project. Dudi said officials are making every effort to complete the remaining acquisition at the earliest.

He added that the administration is also counselling and guiding farmers on the prudent investment of their compensation so they can secure long-term financial stability and benefits.
