Navi Mumbai: Airoli MLA Ganesh Naik Slams Delay in Cidco Land Transfer to NMMC

Navi Mumbai, 5th July 2024: Airoli BJP MLA Ganesh Naik has sharply criticized his government for its failure to resolve the issue of land transfer from the City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), despite an assurance from CM Eknath Shinde over 13 months ago.
Naik reiterated his demand for a halt to the sale of land to private builders, which was originally allocated to the NMMC for public amenities. He brought up the issue during the ongoing monsoon session of the assembly through a calling attention motion.
Naik accused some officials of acting as agents for builders and selling plots that were intended for the NMMC. In response, Industries Minister Uday Samant assured that the issues would be resolved before the end of the session.
CM Shinde had promised to transfer land from Cidco to the NMMC on June 1, 2023. Admitting the delay in implementing this decision, Samant stated that the CM believes the land deals should be annulled, and NMMC should be granted autonomy over the land. Samant also mentioned that Shinde will hold a meeting with all stakeholders to resolve the issue before the session concludes.
Naik expressed his frustration while presenting various issues affecting Navi Mumbai. “Don’t play with the lives of two million Navi Mumbai residents,” Naik stated in the assembly.
