Navi Mumbai: Dramatic Rescue at Belapur Station as Woman Survives Train Track Fall

Navi Mumbai, 8th July 2024: A 50-year-old woman in Navi Mumbai narrowly escaped a tragic accident on Monday morning when she slipped onto the railway tracks at Belapur station while waiting for a train to Thane. The incident occurred around 10 am, resulting in severe leg injuries as a train passed over her, according to railway officials.
In a dramatic turn of events, a Panvel-Thane train on platform number three at Belapur station was promptly reversed to rescue the woman. She was swiftly transported to the nearby MGM Hospital for medical attention, confirmed Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer of the Central Railway.
A video of the incident, reportedly filmed by passengers, depicts the woman lying on the tracks while the train moves backwards to facilitate her rescue. The video has since circulated widely on social media platforms.
Railway police officers acted swiftly to ensure her immediate transfer to the hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.
The morning saw Mumbai and its suburban regions experiencing heavy rainfall, which also disrupted train services. Local trains briefly halted operations as tracks became submerged. Harbour Line services were temporarily suspended between Wadala and Mankhurd stations due to flooding on the tracks.
