Navi Mumbai: Karjat’s Ashane Waterfall Draws Crowds Amid Safety Concerns

Navi Mumbai, 9th July 2024: During the monsoon season, visitors are thronging to Ashane waterfall in Karjat, as no restrictions have been imposed at this location. Despite the forest department’s efforts to clear loose rocks before the monsoon, there remains a potential risk to life. In a tragic incident on July 22, 2017, child actor Tejas Borade (13) and her father Kiran from Dharavi were swept away and drowned at Ashane waterfall.

“Access to the waterfall remains open to tourists,” noted local forest guard Raghunath Kokate. To enhance visitor safety, particularly during heavy rainfall, several district administrations across the state have implemented prohibitory orders at numerous picnic spots.
