Fake RPF Officer Nabbed on Mumbai AC Local, Multiple Charges Filed

Mumbai, 10th June 2026: Two women Travelling Ticket Inspectors (TTIs) of Central Railway apprehended a passenger allegedly impersonating a Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel while travelling without a valid ticket on an AC local train between Mankhurd and Wadala Road stations on Monday evening.

The individual, identified as M.D. Malang, was detained after ticket checking staff Shraddha Salunkhe and Ketki Kadam became suspicious during a routine inspection on the suburban service.

According to railway officials, when asked to produce a travel ticket or authority, the passenger introduced himself as an RPF employee and displayed an identity card claiming to establish his credentials. However, he was unable to provide any valid travel authority. The identity card reportedly appeared suspicious, and his responses to questions raised further doubts about his claim.

Following the verification process, the passenger was taken into custody and handed over to personnel of the Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police.

A case has been registered at the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Railway Police Station. An FIR has been lodged under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, including Sections 204, 337, 339, 340(2), 319(2), 318(4) and 137. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

Railway authorities have urged passengers and railway employees to remain vigilant and report any suspicious person claiming to be a railway official. Complaints can be made through Railway Helpline 139, the nearest RPF post, or on-duty railway staff.
