Mumbai Local Services to Be Affected as Central, Harbour and Western Railways Announce Mega Block on Sunday
Mumbai, 27th June 2026 : Mumbai’s suburban railway network will witness a scheduled mega block on Sunday, June 28, due to track maintenance and signalling work, railway officials said. The block will affect services on the Central Railway, Trans-Harbour line, and parts of the Western Railway, with commuters advised to plan their journeys in advance.
Central Railway
A mega block will be carried out on the up and down slow lines between Matunga and Mulund from 11:05 am to 3:55 pm.
During the block period, slow local trains departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) will be diverted to the down fast line between Matunga and Mulund. These trains will halt at Sion, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup, and Mulund before returning to the slow line.
Similarly, up slow services from Thane will be diverted to the up fast line between Mulund and Matunga, stopping at Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Kurla, and Sion. Railway authorities said passengers should expect delays of 15 to 20 minutes during the block.
Trans-Harbour Line
The up and down Trans-Harbour lines between Thane and Vashi/Nerul will remain under mega block from 11:10 am to 4:10 pm.
As a result, all local train services operating between Thane and Vashi/Nerul during this period will remain cancelled. Several trains from Thane towards Vashi, Nerul and Panvel will be cancelled between 10:35 am and 4:07 pm, while some services from Panvel, Nerul and Vashi towards Thane will also remain cancelled between 10:25 am and 4:09 pm.
Western Railway
On the Western Railway, a night block will be undertaken on the up and down fast lines between Bhayandar and Borivali from 11:30 pm on Saturday to 4:30 am on Sunday.
During the block, all fast local services between Virar, Vasai Road and Borivali will operate on the slow lines. Some suburban local services on both the up and down directions will remain cancelled. Railway officials said the list of cancelled trains will be available at the Station Master’s office at respective stations.
The Western Railway clarified that no daytime block has been scheduled on its suburban network on Sunday.
Railway authorities have urged commuters to check the revised timetable before travelling and allow additional travel time due to the temporary changes in suburban train operations.
