Navi Mumbai: Harbour Railway Announced Fourty-Five Days Of Mega Block For Proposed Dedicated Freight Corridor Construction

Panvel, 18th August 2023: The Harbour Railway has announced a 45-day mega block to facilitate the installation of two new tracks for a dedicated freight corridor at Panvel station on the Harbour line. The ambitious project is being headed by the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation Limited, which aims to establish a rail line connecting Dadri in Greater Noida to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) in Mumbai.
Commencing at midnight every day for a period of four hours, the mega block will be in effect for approximately 45 days. As a result, some local trains departing late on the Harbour route will temporarily run until Vashi station until the completion of the project.
Key modifications are set to take place on the Panvel EMU suburban stabling lines as part of this project. During the night block, which starts from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) at 12 p.m., the last Panvel-bound local trains scheduled to depart at 28 minutes past midnight and 12.40 a.m. will halt at Vashi station.
As a consequence of it, services spanning Sanpada, Juinagar, Nerul, Seawood Darave, Belapur, Kharghar, Mansarovar, Khandeshwar, and Panvel stations will be temporarily unavailable. Furthermore, the Panvel-CSMT local train that usually departs at 4.03 a.m. will now commence its journey from Vashi station at 4.33 a.m. on the up route. Similarly, the Panvel-CSMT local train departing at 4.27 a.m. will originate from Vashi station at 4.57 a.m.
The adjustments extend to the late-night schedule as well. The final CSMT-Panvel local, previously departing at 12.13 midnight, will now set off at 1 a.m. and reach Panvel at 1.33 a.m. Conversely, the first Panvel-CSMT local, departing at 4 a.m., is rescheduled to leave at 4.49 a.m. and arrive at CSMT at 6.08 a.m.
