All parties unanimous on political reservation of OBC: Udhav Thackeray

Mumbai, 27 Aug 2021: “All parties are unanimous on the issue that Other Backward Class should get a political reservation. After studying available options and suggestions which are received in a meeting of all political parties, a next meeting will be conducted on coming Friday” informed Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

He was speaking in a meeting of dignitaries of all political parties held to discuss the issues of political reservation of OBC.

Thackeray further said that all parties agree that OBCs should get political reservation in local bodies. It was the opinion of all that local body elections should not be held without OBC reservation. After the detailed study of the suggestions given by all party members and options received at the meeting, a next meeting would be arranged on coming Friday. There would be a unanimous decision on the issue in this meeting. The Chief Minister appreciated suggestions and options given by all party members to remove the hurdles in the way of political reservation of Other Backward Class.

Welcoming the presence of all party leaders to take a decision on this important issue, Thackeray said that all parties should remain united and unanimous for OBC reservation.

Food and Civil Supply Minister Chhagan Bhujbal delivered an introductory speech on this occasion. He informed about the efforts being made at the government level regarding OBC reservation. Leaders of all parties, including Leader of the Opposition Devendra Fadnavis, shared their views on various options and suggestions for maintaining the reservation.
