Comprehensive Cleanliness Campaign Launched in Thane by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde

Thane, 30th December 2023: A comprehensive cleanliness campaign initiated by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde kicked off in Thane on Saturday, showcasing a collective effort towards a cleaner city. The campaign saw Chief Minister Shinde himself wielding a broom to clean the roads, setting an example for others to follow. Thane Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar, Collector Ashok Shingare, and Police Commissioner Ashutosh Dumbare, along with other officials and employees, joined hands in the cleanliness drive.

Emphasizing the importance of cleanliness, Chief Minister Shinde remarked, “Keep your house clean. Thus, our surroundings should be kept clean.” He stressed that a healthy Thane can only be achieved through such initiatives. Additionally, Chief Minister Shinde announced plans to implement a comprehensive cleanliness campaign across the entire state in a phased manner.

Thane is divided into nine Ward Committees, Municipal Corporation. The comprehensive cleanliness campaign will be rolled out in all these ward committee areas. The launch of the campaign took place on Road No. 22 in Wagle Estate, where Chief Minister Shinde actively participated alongside former MLA Ravindra Phatak, municipal officials, employees, former public representatives, students, and volunteers from social organizations.

During the campaign, Chief Minister Shinde utilized a water hose and broom to clean walls, roads, and footpaths. He engaged with students and Bhajani Mandal, encouraging citizens to actively participate in the universal cleanliness drive. Chief Minister Shinde also revealed plans for tree plantation to reduce air pollution and reiterated the significance of maintaining cleanliness in homes and surroundings for a healthier Thane.
