Cruelty in Thane: Police Investigate as Six Dogs Succumb to Alleged Poisoning

Thane, 27th February 2024: In the Ganeshpuri area of Thane district, a distressing incident occurred as six dogs were reportedly poisoned to death, as per a statement from a police official on Sunday. The probe into the matter commenced after Manisha Patil, a resident of Bhiwandi, informed the police that two of her pet dogs began vomiting on the morning of February 21 and succumbed to the poisoning shortly thereafter.

Several others from the vicinity, including Kashinath Raote, Dinesh Jadhav, and Ravindra Raote, also lodged complaints with the police stating that their pet dogs had experienced a similar fate. Additionally, a stray dog was reported to have died on the same day.

The victims included two Labradors and one German Shepherd, and the Ganeshpuri police station official stated that they suspected the involvement of an unidentified person who poisoned the dogs. A case has been registered under section 428 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to mischief involving the killing, poisoning, maiming, or rendering of any animal useless. However, as of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
