Delay In Reporting Of Kharkopar Local Accident; Instead Of Mumbai Division, Officials From Headquarters To Investigate

Mumbai, 3rd March 2023: Three local coaches derailed near Kharkopar station of Central Railway on 28th February. The concerned department of Central Railway brought three local coaches on the track on a war footing and restored the local service after almost 11 hours. The exact reason behind the accident is still not clear. Central Railway is predicting that the report of this accident will be submitted in two to three weeks. Meanwhile, it is understood that this incident will be investigated by the headquarters officials instead of departmental officials.

Nerul – Kharkopar and Belapur – Kharkopar railway lines entered service in November 2018. There are 40 rounds of two local 12 coaches on this route. 38 to 40 thousand passengers travel on this route every day. On 28th February, three local coaches derailed near Kharkopar station on the Belapur – Kharkopar route at around 8.46 am. The Central Railway has claimed that no one was injured as there was no rush of passengers in this locality. After this accident, the railway team immediately reached the spot, and the work of bringing the local coaches back to the tracks was undertaken on a war footing.

Belapur – Nerul – Kharkopar local service was stopped during this period. The first local for Kharkopar was left at 7.42 pm from Nerul station after starting this local service after almost 11 hours. However, the reason behind this incident is not clear yet. No information regarding the preliminary accident report was made available. It has been claimed by the senior officers of the Central Railway that the entire incident will be revealed in the next two to three weeks.
