Four-Storey Building Collapses In Navi Mumbai, One Dead; Rescue Operation Underway

Mumbai, 2nd October 2022: A portion of a four-storey building collapsed in Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra. A 31-year-old man died due to its grip. Divisional Fire Officer of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Purushottam Jadhav gave detailed information about the incident. The incident took place around midnight on Saturday in the Bonkode area of Koparkhairane area, he said. There are a total of 20 flats in this three-storey building.

 

 

 

Purushottam Jadhav said that a part of the building called Vaishnavi Apartment, about 25 years old, collapsed. The body of a person named Priyavart Sarveshwar Dutt was found during the removal of debris on Sunday morning. He said it was not known how many people were living in the building and whether anyone else was still trapped under the rubble.

 

 

 

The accident happened around 10:30 on Sunday night. After receiving information about the incident, local fire brigade personnel and members of the disaster management team reached the spot and started relief and rescue operations. The official said that the work of clearing the debris is still going on. There is little chance of anyone else being trapped under the debris.

 

 

 

Earlier on Friday, a fire broke out in a call centre located in a multi-storey building in Noida. Noida Chief Fire Officer Arun Kumar Singh said that the incident took place at around 8.45 am in a building located in A block of Sector 3. Singh said that the fire brigade personnel pulled out five people who were in the grip of fire and smoke from the building. There were no casualties in the incident.
