Mumbai, 24th December 2023: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has achieved notable success with its comprehensive cleanliness campaign, known as the Deep Cleaning Drive, prompting the decision to implement the pattern across all cities in the state, as announced by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Emphasizing the importance of cleanliness for health, the Chief Minister outlined plans to concrete all roads in the Mumbai metropolis, ensuring a pothole-free experience for commuters.

 

Commencing on December 3, the BMC’s cleanliness campaign targeted one administrative division (ward) in each circle every week. Chief Minister Shinde actively participated in the campaign today, conducting a four-hour tour from 8 am to 12 noon, inspecting areas in three administrative divisions.

 

Accompanied by State Minister of School Education and Marathi Language Deepak Kesarkar, Minister for Skill Development Mangal Prabhat Lodha, and other dignitaries, Chief Minister Shinde engaged in the cleanliness drive, interacting with sanitation workers, school students, and local citizens. The initiative received support from various social organizations, contributing to the collective effort to enhance cleanliness awareness.

 

During the tour, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Santdarshan Shilpa at Worli Naka, inspected cleanliness at various locations, and addressed issues such as traffic and parking with high-ranking police officers. The tour concluded with the Chief Minister expressing appreciation for the messages on cleanliness drawn by students of Nawab Tank Municipal School.

 

Chief Minister Shinde highlighted the importance of the cleanliness campaign, transforming it into a people’s movement. He emphasized its role in making Mumbai pollution-free, improving citizens’ health, and enhancing the city’s international image. Shinde envisioned making all roads in Mumbai concrete and pothole-free within the next two-and-a-half years.

 

Acknowledging sanitation workers as the real heroes of Mumbai, the Chief Minister addressed their concerns, emphasizing the government’s commitment to providing necessary facilities in workers’ colonies. He prioritized solving issues related to group insurance for sanitary workers and all municipal employees.

 

In conclusion, Chief Minister Shinde reiterated the Maharashtra government’s dedication to fulfilling the comprehensive cleanliness measures expected by Mumbaikars. The success of the BMC’s cleanliness drive reflects a significant step towards a cleaner, healthier, and more beautiful Mumbai.
