Mumbai: Case Registered Against Former Corporator Yogesh Bhoir For Allegedly Amassing High Assets

Mumbai, 7th March 2023: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against Yogesh Bhoir, former corporator of Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray group of Shiv Sena, for amassing more assets than his income. Bhoir is alleged to have accumulated 449 per cent more assets than his income. ACB also conducted a search operation in this case.

Investigations are continuing against the leaders and officials of the Uddhav Thackeray group, and now ACB has registered a case against Yogesh Bhoir. Yogesh Bhoir is a former corporator of Samta Nagar Ward 24. Bhoir has been accused of amassing assets of more than Rs 85 lakh. Yogesh Bhoir is accused of amassing 449.14 per cent of known income. He is accused of accumulating assets of Rs 85,56,562 more than the known income during his tenure as a corporator. Therefore, a case was registered against Bhoir under the Prevention of Corruption Act. ACB also conducted a search operation in this case.

The Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch had earlier registered a case against Bhoir in December 2020 under sections of the Maharashtra Moneylenders Act, including Extortion, and arrested him. Devaram Dargaram Chowdhury had taken a loan of Rs 22 lakh for business from the two brothers – Ganesh Thakur and Dinesh Thakur, the co-accused in this case – at three per cent usurious interest. By 2015, he had returned Rs 24,65,000 with interest. But after paying this amount, both were demanding more money with 10 per cent interest.
