Mumbai: P North Division Removes 87 Constructions Obstructing Goregaon-Mulund Road

Mumbai, 29th March 2023: The P North Division today took action to remove 87 constructions obstructing the Goregaon-Mulund road connecting the western and eastern suburbs of Mumbai and reducing the traffic burden.

The action was taken in the 700-meter stretch from Civil and Sessions Court, located in Dindoshi to Film City Marg Junction. The route of this road within the limits of the P North division is now almost cleared.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has taken up the ambitious project of Goregaon Mulund Link Road (Link Road), with a total distance of about 12 km. Out of this distance, about 2.8 km of road will be within the limits of P North Division. As this road is proposed to be about 45.70 meters wide, a total of 237 constructions in the distance within the boundary of P north section would obstruct the construction of the road. Out of these constructions, 161 constructions became official. It included 154 commercial and seven residential buildings. About one and a half years ago, the owners of 75 constructions filed a petition in the High Court. For this petition, there was a continuous follow-up from the P Department.

After hearing the arguments of the petitioners, the High Court dismissed the petition on 14th March 2023. A deadline was also given to appeal to the Supreme Court. A petition was filed in the Supreme Court, which was dismissed too. The verdict was given in favour of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. The action was taken to remove all these constructions with the help of 10 engineers, and 80 employees of the Municipal Corporation, along with two Poklen plants, five JCB plants, and two dumpers.

Almost all the constructions obstructing the Goregaon-Mulund road within the limits of P North Division have now been removed and this will make it possible for the concerned department to start the widening of the Goregaon Mulund Road.
