Mumbai Police Heightens Vigilance in Response to Anonymous Bomb Threat

Mumbai, 2nd February 2024: In response to an anonymous bomb threat received through an undisclosed message, the Mumbai Police elevated its state of vigilance on Friday. The alert, triggered by information suggesting the presence of explosives at six different locations within the city, prompted immediate search operations across the specified areas.

The Mumbai Police control room was notified of the threatening message by an unidentified sender, as reported by the news agency ANI. Concurrently, law enforcement agencies intensified their efforts to ascertain the identity of the individual responsible for the alarming communication.

This incident unfolds as part of a recurring pattern of similar threats in the region. On January 24, the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi was placed on high alert following a bomb threat directed at a Darbhanga to Delhi flight. Subsequently, a ‘full emergency’ was declared, only for authorities to later confirm that the call was a false alarm.

In the preceding month, Mumbai experienced a series of emailed threats targeting at least eight institutions. Notably, the Byculla Zoo was among the specified targets, emphasizing a disconcerting trend of security-related disruptions in the city during this period.
