Mumbai Weather Update: Overcast Skies and High Humidity Expected

Mumbai, 9th May 2024: On Thursday, Mumbai, the bustling metropolis, will experience overcast skies and heightened humidity levels in the region. Temperatures are expected to hover around 33 degrees Celsius, with the minimum temperature remaining at approximately 26 degrees Celsius. While there’s no rain predicted for the city itself, nearby areas might witness occasional showers. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai can anticipate minimal variation in temperatures.

Despite stable temperatures, the persisting high humidity will contribute to discomfort for residents until the onset of the monsoon next month. The sky is likely to be partly cloudy in the afternoon or evening, although the likelihood of rain remains low.

In the suburban areas, conditions may be slightly more agreeable compared to the city center. As the weekend approaches, temperatures are expected to rise, touching 35 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday. However, a decline in temperatures is anticipated from Monday onward, accompanied by clear skies, as per IMD forecasts.

While intermittent clouds may offer temporary relief in the upcoming week, Mumbaikars must still brace themselves for prolonged exposure to sweltering conditions. It’s advisable for residents to stay well-hydrated, opt for light clothing, carry umbrellas for sun protection, and take special care of vulnerable individuals such as patients, the elderly, and children.

Across Maharashtra, thunderstorms and lightning, coupled with gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kilometers per hour, are expected in several regions including Akola, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Washim, and Yavatmal. Additionally, hailstorms and thunderstorms with similar wind speeds are likely in Wardha and Amravati. The rest of Maharashtra is anticipated to experience dry weather conditions.
