Mumbai: Three Arrested For Forging Fake Documents To Get Insurance In Fake Death Case

Mumbai, 8th March 2023: The Shivaji Park police recently arrested three people who tried to get insurance worth Rs two crore by faking death in a road accident. The accused had shown more income in fake documents submitted to insurance companies. In return, two insurance plans were taken. LIC officials lodged a complaint with the Shivaji Park Police in this matter.

On Tuesday, the police registered a case under various sections of forgery, fraud, conspiracy, and an attempt to defraud on the complaint of Omprakash Sahu, an officer of LIC’s Dadar branch. As soon as the case was registered, a team of Senior Police Inspector Satish Kasbe, Police Inspector Keshav Kumar Kasar, Assistant Police Inspector Mangesh Jamdade, Sub-Inspector Yogesh Rane under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner (Circle-5) Manoj Patil investigated Dinesh Taksale, his friend Anil Bhimrao Latke and Vijay Ramdas Malvade.

The accused has completed his graduation in the field of engineering and is a resident of Ahmednagar. On 21st April 2015, the accused Dinesh applied to LIC for insurance of two crore rupees. Apart from that, he had taken out another insurance of Rs 5.5 crore. In the forged documents submitted for the same, he had shown his income of Rs 35 to 40 lakh per annum through agriculture and restaurants. Then on 25th December 2016, the body of a young man who died in an accident at Belawadi Police Station on Gavanwadi, Pune Nagar Road, was claimed to be that of Dinesh. For that, the fake parents of the accused were presented to the police there. The person who died in the accident could not be identified as the wheel of the car went over his face. Based on that, the accused proved that it was Dinesh’s body.

After that, based on the same information, the accused tried to get a total of eight crore rupees for both insurances through his parents. But only two crore rupees application was accepted. At this time, Dinesh’s real mother said that her son was alive. The insurance company suspected how the parents could get the insurance. An investigation conducted by LIC in this regard revealed that Dinesh is alive. After that, LIC lodged a complaint with the Shivaji Park Police in this matter. Accordingly, the police registered a case against the accused. The accused had tried to get the insurance amount of Rs two crore. But even before that, when the LIC team verified the claim, it was found to be false. Police are investigating further in this regard.
