Thane: Two Companies In Dombivli MIDC Gutted In Fire, No Casualties

Dombivli, 9th March 2023: Two companies – Ramson and Praj Dyeing – in the Khambalpada area of MIDC in Dombivli caught fire at 1 am on Wednesday. There was no loss of life in the fire. But both companies fell prey to fire.

There is a Mahanagar pump on the premises of these companies. If this pump were to catch fire, it would be a big disaster. Firefighters took special care to ensure that fire and flames do not spread to this pump. Residents of the Dombivli, Khambalpada area were woken up by continuous loud noises like crackers bursting outside around 1 o’clock on Wednesday midnight. They saw five to six-kilometre-high flames shooting towards the sky. Due to the flames, buildings within two to three km of the company premises were lit up.

The fire was likely to pose a threat to companies in the area, Mahanagar Gas, and because both companies caught fire, the intensity of the fire would increase. President of ‘The Kalyan Ambernath Manufacturers Association’ Deven Soni immediately contacted District Collector Ashok Shingare, District Abhijeet Bhande-Patil. He demanded the fire brigade to send vehicles from other areas immediately. By then, six fire engines and personnel of the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Fire Brigade were making strenuous efforts to douse the fire. The emergency team of Kama Sangathan was active here. The District Collector contacted the officials of Bhiwandi, Ulhasnagar, Ambernath, and Badlapur and instructed them to send vehicles to Dombivli immediately. 10 fire brigades arrived at the spot from a different area.

Sub-divisional officers Bhande-Patil reached the spot at night. With his instructions and planning method, the fire of both companies was simultaneously hit with water from all four sides. Due to the wind, the speed of the fire was high, and the jawans were getting tired while extinguishing the fire. More than 15 jawans were working to put out the fire till 5 am. The fire was brought under control at six o’clock in the morning. After that, the jawans started the work of pouring water on the ashes there. The preliminary estimate of the fire due to a short circuit has been expressed by the fire brigade personnel.

According to Soni, president of the ‘Kama’ organization, Ramson Company manufactures perfumes and Praj Dyeing Company dyes clothes. In the last two months, four to five companies have caught fire in Dombivli MIDC. When the month of March comes, the residents ask why companies in the industrial sector catch fire.
