Mumbai University Students Complain About Open Defecation During Police Recruitment Process

Mumbai, 21st March 2023: The student branch of the AAP, Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS), has written to the vice-chancellor of Mumbai University, the governor of Maharashtra, the higher education minister, and the home minister to ask them to prevent their campus from turning into an excretory yard. As the ground on the campus is being utilised for the Mumbai police’s recruitment drive, students claimed they are disgusted by the sight of constable aspirants peeing and defecating in the open every day and are weary of littering.

Police claimed to have set up at least 70 portable restrooms for applicants during the constable recruiting campaign. However, according to Mid-Day, some of the portable bathrooms are locked.

Students claimed that candidates continue to urinate and defecate in the open even though the majority of restrooms are available.
