Mumbai: Water Supply Disruption in ‘F North’ Section: Repair Work in Progress

Mumbai, 2nd January 2024: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is currently undertaking repair work on a 600 mm water channel near Ravji Ganatra Marg, Shaikh Mistry Road, CGS Colony, Sector 6 in the Antop Hill area of the ‘F North’ Division. The repair work is expected to continue until late at night, affecting the water supply in certain areas of the ‘F North’ section.

A leak was identified in a 300 mm diameter water pipe in the Antop Hill area of the ‘F North’ section. Immediate repair work was initiated on a war footing. The repair work on the 300 mm diameter water channel was completed today (January 2, 2024) morning, facilitating smooth water supply to CGS Colony, Mahatma Gandhi Nagar, and Bharatiya Kamala Nagar. Subsequently, a leak was identified in another 600 mm water channel, and the repair work is currently underway. It is expected to continue until late at night.

The ongoing repair work may result in disruptions to water supply in several areas of the ‘F North’ section, including Kokri Agar, Vijay Nagar, Sangam Nagar, Dosti Acres, Himmat Nagar, Shanti Nagar, Azad Mohalla, Antop Hill, Wadala East, Ganesh Nagar, Shivshankar Nagar, Nehru Nagar, Indira Nagar, Wadala Transit Camp, Punjabi Colony, Seva Samiti, Mhada Colony, Sion Koliwada, BPT, Bengalipura, and Rajiv Gandhi Nagar.

Approximately 35 workers, employees, and officials are engaged in the repair work at the leak site. The challenging conditions, including muddy and deep terrain, are causing complexities in the repair process. As a result, the repair work is likely to extend until late at night.

The BMC appeals to citizens in the affected areas to use water sparingly and cooperate with the administration during this repair period. The repair work is crucial to ensure the integrity of the water channels and maintain a reliable water supply system in the ‘F North’ section.
