“Nattu Nattu” From RRR Creates History As It Wins Academy Award For Best Original Song
New Delhi, 13th March 2023: The song “Naatu Naatu” from SS Rajamouli’s “RRR” has won an Oscar under the Best Original Song category at the 95th Academy Awards.
The achievement comes over a year after the release of “RRR,” which went on to become one of the biggest box office successes in Indian history.
Lady Gaga’s “Hold My Hand,” Ryan Lott’s “This Is A Life,” Diane Warren’s “Applause,” and Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up” were among the songs that “Naatu Naatu,” competed against to win the award.
Filmmaker SS Rajamouli, lead actors Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, music composer MM Keeravani, “Naatu Naatu” singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, and lyricist Chandrabose were all present at the “RRR” table.
On stage, Keeravani and Chandrabose accepted their Oscars.
The singers also performed “Naatu Naatu” live at the awards show, and received a standing ovation from the audience.
