Navi Mumbai Woman, Lover Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Husband, Dismembering Body After 11-Month Investigation
Navi Mumbai, 14th July 2026: In a shocking murder case that has sent shockwaves across Navi Mumbai, police have arrested a 40-year-old woman and her alleged lover for allegedly murdering her husband, dismembering his body, and disposing of the remains at different locations in an attempt to destroy evidence. The crime, which took place nearly 11 months ago, was solved after an extensive police investigation.
According to police, the victim, Baliram Suryanath Kushwaha (50), lived with his wife Sunita Kushwaha (40) and their two children in Yadav Nagar, Airoli. Investigators alleged that Sunita was in a relationship with Rahul Dashrath Prajapati (30), an autorickshaw driver from Ghansoli. Police said Baliram had opposed the relationship, leading the accused to allegedly conspire to eliminate him.
Officials stated that on the night of August 9, 2025, the couple allegedly sent their two children to stay with a relative. Later that night, while Baliram was asleep, the accused allegedly strangled him and attacked him with a sharp weapon, resulting in his death.
Police further alleged that the accused dismembered the body into three parts head, torso, and legs and packed the remains into sacks and bedsheets. The body parts were then allegedly transported in an autorickshaw and dumped at separate locations in the Gavli Dev hill forest area in an effort to conceal the crime and destroy evidence.
Following an investigation spanning nearly 11 months, Navi Mumbai Police arrested both accused. During interrogation, the duo allegedly confessed to the crime. Police have launched a search operation to recover the remaining body parts and collect further forensic evidence.
The gruesome murder has created panic and outrage among residents of Navi Mumbai. Police said further investigation is underway to establish all aspects of the case and complete the evidence collection process.
