Pune: Cyber Thieves Strike in Baner: Victim Loses Rs 44 Lakh in Online Job Scam

Baner, 6th March 2024: A case has been reported where an individual was duped at approximately Rs 44 lakh under the pretext of offering a well-paying part-time job for completing online tasks. The incident occurred between January 15 and 20 in the Baner area.

The 46-year-old victim, residing in Baner, filed a complaint with the Chaturshringi Police Station against cyber thieves. The victim received a message on WhatsApp from an unknown mobile number, which led to a link for a part-time job on the Telegram app.

Initially, the accused deposited Rs 2,800 in the victim’s account, gaining trust. Larger sums were fraudulently demanded, reaching a total of Rs 43.82 lakh in the guise of a task related to Welfare Task Crinto Share Trading.

Realizing the fraudulent activities, the victim filed a complaint with the Chaturshringi Police Station, prompting an investigation into the case.
