Pune: Fake GST Officials Rob Pune Shopkeeper in Market Yard: Case Filed Against Six Suspects

Market Yard, 1st March 2024: In Pune’s Market Yard, a shopkeeper fell victim to a robbery orchestrated by individuals posing as officials from the Goods and Services Tax (GST) office.

The trader has registered a complaint at the Market Yard Police Station, leading to the filing of a case against six suspects. The perpetrators, disguised as GST officials, entered the Bhusar market amidst a crowd of traders.

Claiming to be conducting an audit of family transactions, the impostors proceeded to record footage on their mobile phones. Under intimidation, the shopkeeper was threatened and robbed of Rs. 20,000 in cash.

The revelation of this incident has sparked panic in the Bhusar market, prompting an investigation. CCTV footage has been confiscated for examination, with Assistant Police Inspector Chavan leading the inquiry.
