Pune: University Chowk To Witness Changes From March 4th To Address Traffic Bottleneck

Pune, 1st March 2024: Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar conducted a visit to University Chowk on Thursday to assess and address the prevailing traffic bottleneck in the area.

 

In an effort to alleviate traffic congestion, the following interventions will be implemented on an EXPERIMENTAL basis starting from March 4, 2024, Monday:

 

A. Traffic from Aundh/Baner Heading Towards Senapati Bapat Road:

– Right turns are restricted; vehicles will proceed straight from University Chowk.

– U-Turns are permitted at Cosmos Bank.

– Left turn onto Senapati Bapat Road.

 

B. Traffic from Shivajinagar:

– Towards Range Hills: Straight movement with a U-Turn at Cosmos Bank followed by a left onto Range Hills Road.

– Towards Pashan: Left turn onto Pashan Road.

– Towards Baner: No straight movement; take a left on Pashan Road and then a right towards Abhimanshree Society Road onto Baner Road.

– To Pune University: Access only through the Millenium Gate, not the Main Gate.

 

Instructions to PMRDA, PMC, and Local Traffic Police Division:

 

1. Barricades to be shifted inward to maximize carriage width.

2. Smoothening of all slip roads.

3. Deployment of 50 Traffic Personnel and 50 Wardens in two shifts to ensure effective traffic management.

4. The nearby petrol pump/CNG station is directed to prevent queuing on the carriageway.

5. Prohibition of heavy vehicles, excluding school buses and PMPML buses, in the designated area.

 

These measures aim to enhance traffic flow and address the current bottlenecks in the University Chowk vicinity. Commuters are urged to cooperate with the experimental changes for a smoother traffic experience.
