Thane: Municipal Team Attacked By Shopkeeper During Inspection
Thane, 5th March 2023: It came to light on Saturday that an officer and an employee of the municipal corporation team who went to take action against shopkeepers using banned plastic bags in the Samtanagar area of Vartaknagar were abused, pushed and beaten by the shopkeeper. A case has been registered against Balaram Devasi (24) in Vartaknagar police station in this regard.
On behalf of Thane Municipal Corporation’s solid waste management department, action is being taken against vendors who use and sell banned plastic in the city. According to this, Deputy Chief Sanitation Inspector Hemant Chaudhary, Sanitation Inspector Sameer Aje and In-charge Sanitation Inspector Dipesh Mantri went to the Samta Nagar area for investigation. At that time, the team went to a shop called Bhairubhavani Super Market. Plastic bags and many plastic materials were found in the shop. Therefore, while the team was carrying out the confiscation operation, Balaram Devasi, an employee of the shop, started arguing with them. After that, he abused and pushed the team. Hemant was hit near the eye. After that, when the team came to seize the plastic material, Usman Khan, the sweeper, was also beaten up by Devasi. Based on the complaint given by Hemant, a case has been registered at the Vartaknagar police station.
