Mumbai: Mother Arrested For Causing Death Of Teenage Son Via Electric Shock

Crime

Mumbai, 6th March 2023: A grocery store owner from Nalasopara is in legal trouble after what she thought was a clever theft prevention technique resulted in the death of a teenager. Every night when she closed her shop, the woman would attach a live wire to the grille on the window. The Tulinj police detained her on 1st March.

The event happened on 25th January, when her 18-year-old son was discovered apparently asleep on the ground. When his mother touched him, she received an electric shock, which shocked the police and prompted them to launch a detailed investigation.

Although the Tulinj police had initially filed an accidental death report (ADR) in the case, they have now charged the shop owner, Mira Sanjay Kandu (42), under the appropriate provisions of the Indian Penal Code following a month-long investigation and the retrieval of a thorough report from the electricity distribution company and the post-mortem.
