Thane: Nearly 8,000 Disconnected Consumers Reconnect as MSEDCL Waives Interest & Late Fees

Thane, 8th February 2025: Nearly 7,891 electricity consumers from the Kalyan and Bhandup circles, who had their power supply permanently disconnected due to outstanding dues, have had their connections restored under MSEDCL’s Amnesty scheme, an official stated on Friday.
“A total of 13,848 consumers from these areas enrolled in the scheme, collectively clearing arrears worth ₹31 crore. They received a 5% to 10% reduction on principal dues, along with a complete waiver of interest and late payment charges. The scheme remains open until the end of March, and we urge the remaining eligible consumers to apply online at the earliest,” the MSEDCL official added.
As per the scheme’s guidelines, both low and high-tension consumers—excluding those using electricity for public water supply and agricultural pumps—whose connections were permanently severed by March 2024 or earlier qualify for these benefits. Those who settle their principal arrears either in full or through six equal instalments will have all interest and late fees waived.
