Navi Mumbai: Ghansoli Residents Demand Urgent Civic Action Over Negligence In Maintaining Public Facilities

Navi Mumbai, 18th July 2023: Public facilities in Ghansoli city are in a poor state due to the negligence of the municipality over these issues. Frustrated by these, the residents of Ghansoli have raised their voices against the Municipal Corporation, expressing their indignation over the lack of maintenance and neglect of civic issues in the area. With numerous lakes left unattended and broken toys endangering children’s safety in local parks, the residents are urging the administration to address these pressing concerns immediately.

The deplorable situation of the city’s parks has become a major cause for concern among parents and residents alike. The Municipality, with the intention of providing recreational spaces for children, installed toys in the gardens. However, due to poor conditioning and a lack of regular maintenance, the playgrounds have turned into potential accident zones. Broken toys, including a tilted cradle, have become hazards, heightening the fear of unfortunate incidents involving children.

Compounding the problem is the scarcity of child-friendly parks in Ghansoli. With just three to four parks available for children to play in, parents are raising objections, stating that the lack of proper facilities and space is resulting in their children feeling ostracised and deprived of outdoor activities.

The situation is equally alarming at Gunali Lake during the night hours, where young people gather to drink and wreak havoc at night. The absence of a protective fence around the lake area poses a grave risk to children’s safety. Concerned parents fear that their children might inadvertently come into contact with broken liquor bottles or be affected by the unsuitable environment, urging immediate intervention by the authorities.

Apart from recreational facilities, the state of the roads in Ghansoli has also become a significant issue. Neglecting road repairs has led to numerous injuries and accidents among pedestrians and motorists alike. This has caused frustration and anger among residents, who demand that the Municipal Corporation take action to address the deplorable road conditions and ensure the safety of everyone using the streets.
