Thane, 22nd November 2023: As the Thane district grapples with a prevalent cold and cough epidemic, a new concern has emerged with the rise of dengue and malaria cases in Thane. In November alone, the district recorded 12 cases of dengue and 64 cases of malaria, prompting the health authorities to take swift preventive measures to curb the spread of these vector-borne diseases.

The fluctuating climate, characterized by cold mornings and hot afternoons, combined with increased pollution from Diwali fireworks, has impacted the overall health of citizens. Over the past two weeks, Thane residents have been experiencing symptoms like cold, cough, and body aches. The surge in patients seeking medical attention for these symptoms has coincided with the emergence of dengue and malaria cases in the region.

– Dengue Cases: 12 cases detected in November, with nine patients undergoing treatment in government hospitals and three in private hospitals.
– Malaria Cases: 64 cases detected in November, with 51 patients being treated in government hospitals and 13 in private hospitals.
