Navi Mumbai, 31st October 2024: In a heartbreaking event, at least three individuals lost their lives, and one person sustained serious injuries following a significant fire that erupted at a general store, which subsequently spread to the shopkeeper’s home in Ulwe Nagar, Navi Mumbai. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening (October 30) due to an explosion involving three gas cylinders stored in the shop. Tragically, the fire claimed the lives of the shopkeeper’s wife and two children, while he was injured.
According to police reports, authorities were alerted to the fire around 8 p.m. on October 30, regarding both a residence and a Kirana store. “A team was dispatched to the location, where they discovered that the shopkeeper, identified as Ramesh, had been injured, while his wife and two children had perished,” the police stated.
“Initial investigations revealed that three gas cylinders had exploded in the Kirana store, leading to the fire that spread to the shop and the residence. Two small 5 kg cylinders and one 12 kg cylinder exploded. The shopkeeper’s wife, Manju, and their two children died in the incident. Ramesh is currently receiving treatment at Apollo Hospital,” explained the Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Navi Mumbai.
