Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Urges Citizens to Make Mumbai the Cleanest City in the Country

Mumbai, 23rd November 2024: To make Mumbai the cleanest city in the country, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde appealed to citizens to actively participate in the ongoing intensive cleanliness drive. Mumbai, known worldwide for its allure, is envisioned by the Chief Minister to be not only clean but also beautiful, green, and pollution-free. Shinde emphasized the goal of achieving the top position in the country’s cleanliness rankings for Mumbai, aligning with Maharashtra’s success in the cleanliness drive.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde conducted a review of the ongoing Deep Clean Drive in Mumbai on January 23, 2024. During the review, he addressed the gathering, which included State Skill Development Minister and Mumbai Suburban District Guardian Minister Mangalprabhat Lodha, MP Rahul Shewale, MLA Ram Kadam, and various municipal officials.

Shinde highlighted the positive response received from Mumbai citizens regarding the deep clean drive. He urged the awareness campaign to reach every corner of the city, emphasizing the regular cleaning of streets, lanes, and public facilities. The Chief Minister suggested seeking assistance from private organizations to meet manpower and equipment requirements for effective cleanliness campaigns.

Alongside cleanliness, Shinde emphasized the importance of planting trees, creating green belts, and beautification efforts for environmental conservation. Expert organizations were recommended to be involved in the beautification process. Hospitals, beaches, markets, and school premises were identified as specific areas needing attention in the cleanliness drive. Collaboration with the police administration was encouraged to address issues like clearing vehicles obstructing roads.

Shinde proposed honouring wards that excel in cleanliness efforts, fostering healthy competition among different areas of Mumbai. This initiative aims to motivate wards to maximize their contributions to the campaign.

The Chief Minister commended the enthusiastic participation of sanitation workers in the cleanliness campaign and urged the immediate initiation of development works for all 46 colonies of sanitation workers. For effective implementation, Assistant Commissioners of each ward were directed to actively engage in the field and promote a spirit of competition for exemplary performance.
