Midnight Rail Block Between Matunga and Kurla to Disrupt Mumbai Local, Long-Distance Train Services This Weekend
Mumbai, 11th June 2026: Central Railway will undertake special traffic and power blocks between Matunga and Kurla stations during the nights of June 12-13 and June 13-14 for the launching of girders on the Sion Road Over Bridge as part of the ongoing fifth and sixth line project between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kurla.
The block will be in force on all railway lines between Matunga and Kurla from 12.45 am to 3.45 am on the night of June 12-13 and from 12.10 am to 4.10 am on the night of June 13-14.
The infrastructure work will affect several suburban and long-distance train services, with multiple cancellations, short terminations, rescheduling and regulations announced by the railway administration.
On the night of June 12-13, Train No. 11020 Bhubaneswar–CSMT Konark Express will be regulated at Kurla station for approximately 17 minutes. No suburban train services will be affected during this block period.
However, the block on the night of June 13-14 will have a wider impact on train operations. Train No. 11020 Bhubaneswar–CSMT Konark Express will be regulated at Ghatkopar and will terminate at Dadar instead of CSMT. Train No. 12134 Mangaluru Junction–CSMT Express will also be short terminated at Dadar, while Train No. 12810 Howrah–CSMT Express will be regulated en route. Hyderabad–CSMT Express and Hospete–CSMT Express are expected to be delayed by 10 to 15 minutes.
Two outbound long-distance trains have been rescheduled. Train No. 11003 Dadar–Sawantwadi Express, originally scheduled to depart at 12.05 am, will now leave at 4.10 am. Train No. 22177 CSMT–Banaras Express, scheduled for departure at 12.15 am, has been rescheduled to 4.00 am.
Suburban train operations will be significantly affected during the June 13-14 block, with services between CSMT and Kurla as well as between Thane and Kalyan remaining unavailable during the block period.
Several late-night and early-morning local train services on the Central line have been cancelled. These include multiple CSMT-bound and outbound services operating between CSMT, Thane, Kurla, Ambarnath, Kasara, Karjat and Kalyan during the affected period.
A number of suburban services will also be short terminated at Kurla, Thane and Parel stations, while several trains scheduled to originate from CSMT will instead commence their journeys from Kurla, Thane or Kalyan after completion of the block.
According to the revised operating plan, the last up suburban service before the block will be the Asangaon–CSMT local departing Asangaon at 10.10 pm on June 13, while the last down service before the block will be the CSMT–Kurla local departing CSMT at 11.34 pm. The first up service after the block will be the Thane–CSMT local departing Thane at 4.04 am on June 14, and the first down service will be the CSMT–Kasara local departing CSMT at 4.19 am.
The girder-launching work forms part of the ongoing expansion project for the fifth and sixth railway lines between CSMT and Kurla, a key infrastructure project aimed at increasing rail capacity on Mumbai’s suburban network.
