Mumbai Swelters as Heatwave Persists, Temperatures Soar to 38.6°C, High Humidity Worsens Discomfort, No Immediate Relief Expected

Mumbai, 13th March 2025: Mumbai is experiencing a prolonged heat wave, with temperatures remaining high and humidity adding to the discomfort. The weather department predicts that the hot and humid conditions will persist for the next few days, offering little respite to residents. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 37°C at the Colaba center and 38.6°C at the Santacruz center.

Residents are taking precautions such as using umbrellas and scarves to protect themselves from the sun. Many are avoiding outdoor activities during the peak sun hours. The heat is not only causing discomfort but also health issues like fever, cold, headaches, and skin problems.

The weather conditions are attributed to anticyclonic winds bringing warm air from the east. Mumbai’s proximity to the sea contributes to higher humidity, exacerbating the heat-related discomfort. The situation is expected to continue for the next two days, with no significant drop in temperature anticipated.

Across Maharashtra, temperatures have risen, with Akola recording the highest temperature of 41.3°C on Wednesday. The state is likely to experience a heat wave in areas like Akola and Chandrapur over the weekend.
